Attention & Executive Functioning
ADHD Evaluations in Austin & Throughout Texas
When attention, organization, impulsivity, or activity level affect everyday life, an evaluation can help clarify what is happening. Spy Creek Psychological Services evaluates children, adolescents, and adults, with in-person appointments in Austin beginning November 2, 2026, and clinically appropriate telehealth options throughout Texas.
Questions an Evaluation Can Address
You may be seeking help with losing track of tasks, managing time, finishing work, remembering instructions, sitting still, or acting before thinking. An evaluation explores how concerns developed, where they occur, and how they affect school, work, relationships, and daily responsibilities.
These experiences can have more than one explanation. Testing is designed to clarify the referral concerns rather than confirm a diagnosis in advance.
Our Assessment Approach
- Clinical interview covering current concerns and developmental history
- Rating scales about attention and everyday executive functioning
- Information from caregivers, teachers, partners, or records when appropriate and authorized
- Selected cognitive or academic measures based on the referral question
- Assessment of emotional and behavioral concerns that may affect attention
Your clinician determines the appropriate measures. No single questionnaire or test establishes an ADHD diagnosis by itself.
Assessment Across Ages
Children & Teens
We consider development, school demands, behavior across settings, and the child's strengths. Parent and teacher information can help show whether difficulties are consistent or depend on the setting.
If learning is also a concern, a psychoeducational evaluation may be more appropriate than an ADHD-focused assessment alone.
Adults
Adult assessment examines current responsibilities alongside earlier attention and behavior patterns. We discuss work, education, routines, and relationships, along with relevant records or collateral history when available.
We also consider other factors that may contribute to attention complaints, including emotional concerns and sleep-related history.
What You Receive
Your written report integrates the findings, explains diagnostic conclusions, and provides recommendations tailored to your needs. Next steps may include therapy, consultation with a prescribing professional, practical organizational supports, or further assessment. A feedback appointment can be arranged to review the findings. Evaluation does not guarantee a diagnosis, medication prescription, or approval for accommodations.
Planning Your Appointment
The private fee for a general or ADHD psychological evaluation is $2,200. Insurance coverage for medically necessary services depends on your benefits, authorization requirements, and clinician network status. See Fees & Insurance.
